The citizen is shaped as a citizen within the physical, social, and political space of the city. Depending on the challenges, crises, and opportunities that the city experiences, citizens cultivate corresponding qualities, strengths, and characteristics in their beings.

P. 11: When we were children, we could go down to the sea. We were lucky to live here, to play by the sea, and to have people from other places come here for vacations. We could sleep at night with open windows without the toxins from the chimneys coming in. I feel nostalgic about all of these.
