Episode 2

In the aforementioned division between individual and collective responsibility, the lady in the green shirt observes that one aspect of the stance of those in charge is the complete disavowal of any responsibility on their part and the simultaneous attribution of responsibilities to others. As an ironic example, she mentions the new labour code, which was passed in May 2022 and was criticised for its unfavourable regulations for workers in contrast to favourable ones for employers.

F.=Facilitator, P.=Participant

P. 2: Oh, sure. With the new labour bill, the landscape has changed.

P. 7: Yes.

P. 2: Even if ELPE (Hellenic Petroleum) pollutes the environment in the area, it doesn't matter! It will only be a simple disciplinary warning, and from then on, it's up to the owner whether to comply or not.

P. 5: That's the law.

P. 2: Also, you, being a unionist, should know that you're at risk of being fired because, according to the law, employers can now terminate someone due to their union activity.

P. 7: I see. Very well.

P. 2: It's not prohibited like it used to be. That's why I'm telling you this, out of love!

[laughter]

P. 7: But may I ask something else? Who is responsible for the roads?
